Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation
NEWS STORIES FROM 2013
We've officially changed our name from Yavapai CASA for Kids, Inc. to The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation. Read more about our decision to change our name here:
CASA for Kids board member Diana Dalsass holds up a plate of cookies for sale at Prescott's annual Last-Minute Stocking-Stuffer Christmas-Bazaar held for local nonprofit organizations to sell homemade items to benefit their causes. The photo and information about CASA for Kids were submitted to Cooking Light magazine's Bake-A-Second-Batch contest, which awarded a $500 prize to the best purpose for baking an extra batch of cookies. Although Diana didn't win the Grand Prize (which she would have donated to CASA for Kids), she was a finalist -- another boost for the essential needs CASA for Kids fills within our community.
Sandra Talosi, chair of the Clothing Grant Committee, has organized bags containing a total of 330 gift cards to local stores for supervisors at Child Protective Services to distribute to children in foster care or in other living situations after being removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect and/or abandonment
Bill Parry, UniSource Energy Services district manager, presents a check to Janet Lincoln and Diana Dalsass of the Yavapai CASA for Kids board, to be used to provide gift cards for clothing supplements for youth aged 16 – 21 who are “aging out” of foster care with no permanent homes. These clothing supplements will be spent on such items as attire for job interviews, winter clothing and other necessary clothing.
